IHSS Payment Schedule 2025: When California Providers Get Paid

IHSS pays providers on a bimonthly schedule — twice a month. Knowing the exact pay dates and submission deadlines helps you plan your finances and avoid missed paychecks.

How the IHSS Pay Calendar Works

The IHSS pay period is split into two halves each month:

Example for May 2025:

Period 1 (May 1–15) → Submit by May 19 → Paid around June 1

When Is the Money in Your Account?

Direct deposit: Funds arrive on the payment date or one business day before
Paper check: Mailed on the payment date; add 3–5 business days for delivery
Money Network Prepaid Card: Loaded on the payment date

How to Never Miss a Payment

Submit early — do not wait until the due date. Submit 2–3 days before the deadline.

Confirm recipient approval — payment is not processed until the recipient approves in ESP or by phone

Check your ESP account the day after submission to confirm it shows "Approved," not "Pending" or "Rejected"

Set phone reminders for submission deadlines on the 19th and 3rd

What If a Payment Is Late?

If your payment date passes and funds have not arrived:

Check ESP to confirm the timesheet status is "Approved" — not "Pending Approval"

If approved, call the IHSS payroll office for your county

If the recipient has not approved, contact them directly
