This Week in IHSS
Wage Increase Confirmed for 2026. California’s minimum wage is set to rise again on January 1, 2026. IHSS providers in most counties will see their base rate increase automatically. Check the wage tracker for your county’s specific rate.
New Medi-Cal Rules. Starting July 2025, Medi-Cal will cover additional mental health services for IHSS providers. If you’re a provider caring for a family member, you’re also eligible.
Fraud Alert — LA County. The LA County DA’s office announced charges against a care agency that withheld overtime from 47 IHSS providers over three years. If your agency has withheld overtime pay, call 1-844-522-6734.
Rights Reminder
You are entitled to overtime after 9 hours in a single day or 40 hours in a week — whichever comes first. Many providers don’t know the daily rule applies to them.
